You always know…

Well, you really always do.

You can try to suppress it, deny it, cover it up, compensate or numb it – so many ways to go. But deep down in your core, you do know it. And when the time comes & you can allow yourself to actually feel it: you will undeniably know your truth.

I have this theory, that we have our over functioning mind, our ego on a (rather self-destructive) duty of “keeping it down there”, not letting it slip to the surface, because we don’t think we can take it. Because we don’t think we can face it, hold it, and the worst of it all: BE aligned with it. Because once we know our truth and feel what has been growing in us for a while “unconsciously”, there is one thing we cannot do for sure: we can’t not know it. We can’t go back to previous versions of our selves, we can’t unlearn what we have learned and integrated in our being.

So yes, it is threatening for the mind to let those knowings enter the surface, to let them show themselves in their entirety: they in fact hold potential to be revolutionary, different, evolved, pushing boundaries and cracking walls. Sometimes they really are that overwhelming – the bigger the truth, the bigger the efforts of our conscious part to keep it under control. To not change the status quo, to not challenge our world, our relationships, our existing reality. Our brain loves control, loves taking calculated risks, our ego loves keeping things the way they are: understood, managed and predictable. It will always try its very best to preserve that state.

And the very same logic brings us to the most important understanding: the bigger the urge of our “head” to rationalize and rewrite the sensations, feelings evolving from a deep discomfort of something new being born inside us, the more important it is to “fight” the suppressive process and let the change show itself. The more intense the “headwork, the more significant are the shifts inside us. They must be, it can’t be any different. Nothing on this natural world (including our beautiful unconscious self) is working unnecessarily harder than it has to. But also not less hard, whatever direction we want to come from.

So, we find ourselves rationalizing feeling “off”, having those strange sensations in our stomach, having our pulse racing, our breath being anything but calm and easy… And we know it’s been a long while now, since we are “managing”, controlling, fighting it. Well, there is no better way out of it, than through it.

There is something important down there. It is big, it can be scary and a lot. But so is the work, so are the efforts we wasted on trying to push back against it. It won’t go away. Thank God it won’t. It is meant to be, it is there because we need it, because we created & earned it. It might shake our bones and our. world, but we will get through it eventually, Because it already is a part of us, making us wiser, stronger, more resilient than ever before – whether we wanted it or now. It is there, although we tried to fight it. And boy, we can be stubborn and brutal warriors if we let our mind lead us – I am sure you can relate…

Whatever is waiting inside to be felt, heard or given space to – it is strong by definition. It has survived all our wrongdoings and arguments. Let it be. Breath and let yourself be. Listen to it and stop fighting. Just stop. Whatever comes after it, is is happening for you, not against you. It might be frightening, do it anyway. Better said: stop doing! Let it be, let it exist, let it fill you and show you what it is trying to show you. What you refused to see and recognize with your mind.

You will know it with your whole being. First you’ll feel overwhelmed, but that is normal, that is how it was meant to be. Than, you will learn to speak it, create it, transform it. You will eventually become it. It is scary. The more it scares you, the better – you know you are doing it just right!

Yes, as of then, you will not be able to “unknow” it. But if you are honest with yourself: after a while, after the whole world in & around you has adjusted to the new versions of yourself: have you ever wanted to go back to how it was before?❤️
